tlSpeed is an ultrafast database engine designed to meet unique demands created by large data flows.

Technical requirements:

• hardware - any server supporting Java 5 - Sun/Solaris, Intel or AMD either with Linux or with MS Windows, etc.;
• RAM - at least 2 GB RAM (for smaller businesses); for larger data flows more RAM is needed, the exact amount depends on the number of records per hour, size of a single record and the number of required indices;
• storage - each index occupies usually around 20% of the raw data space.

The exact hardware requirements are always analysed and specified during the deployment process to meet customer-specific demands and include all types of queries which are to be supported.

Tests of indexing Use Cases were conducted on a low-end server:

• Intel Core2 Duo 1.73 Ghz,
• 4 GB RAM,
• 160 GB HDD.

The tests were conducted on the basis of semi-constant flow of incoming records:

• size of a record – about 0.5 kB.
• upload speed – over 120 million records per hour for an archive data (batch upload),
• upload speed – over 10 million records per hour for an on-line, continuous data.

The system passed all the tests without any problems; CPU usage did not reach 100%, all records were properly indexed.

The tests of searching Use Cases were conducted on the same server.
The tests were made by searching for records with randomly chosen criteria (both satisfiable and non-existent). The average search-and-fetch time was:

• under 13 ms per record found,
• under 7 ms for queries returning no records.
